Deirdra Colavolpe is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). Deirdra received her MSW degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Deirdra is also a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC). She received a Bachelors of Science Degree from Charter Oak State College. Deirdra has extensive experience working with a diverse population in group and individual therapeutic settings. Deirdra began her work journey at The Children’s Center of Hamden, servicing, supporting, advocating and caring for children, adolescents and families in a substance use outpatient/inpatient, psychiatric residential treatment, extended day treatment and clinical day school setting. Deirdra is extremely passionate about building a strong therapeutic/trusting relationship with her clients. The client/therapist relationship is the most important to be able to continue and be most effective on the therapeutic journey for the client. Creating a safe, supportive, non-judgmental space where clients can explore, express and be vulnerable in finding or continuing to be their authentic self.
Deirdra takes a person-centered, empowerment, strength based approach. Meeting each client exactly where they are on their journey in life. She loves to be creative and use activities related to the client’s presenting struggle. Deirdra started her journey at CBH in August 2024. She is currently working as a CBH school-based social worker. Deirdra is excited to be a part of the CBH team. To learn and grow in her social work journey. WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER.
In her free time, Deirdra enjoys spending time in nature , hiking with her doggie Luna. Participating in /exercise/yoga/mediation. Spending time with family and loved ones and being of service in the community.
