Courtney Mattiace, Psy.D.


Mattiace is a licensed psychologist who received her Psy.D in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford and specializes in working with children, adolescents and families. Clinical training and professional work experiences include: working at a therapeutic foster care agency, substance abuse facility, college counseling center, intensive outpatient program, emergency psychiatric care center, inpatient psychiatric hospital, and as a foster parent trainer. Dr. Mattiace completed her pre-doctoral internship at MercyFirst, a long-term residential care facility for children and adolescents in Syosset, NY. During her training, she provided psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and conducted psychological evaluations with adolescents who were referred through the court system and presented with significant histories of trauma and criminal activity. Additionally, Dr. Mattiace completed her post-doctoral training at Wheeler Clinic’s Northwest Village School, a therapeutic special education school in Plainville, CT. Clinical and research areas of interest include: working with clients who present with severe emotional and behavioral difficulties, early childhood trauma, attachment disorders, emotional dysregulation, and self-injurious behaviors. Additionally, as these difficulties can impact the entire family, Dr. Mattiace utilizes various Cognitive Behavioral, Interpersonal, Family Systems, and Dialectical Behavioral approaches to work with parents and siblings to reduce stress and foster a positive family environment.
